Nick,

A very well researched and thoughtful piece.

The author writes: "As previously noted, Russia and China cannot win a global economic or military contest with America. However, they can create social conditions within America that convert legitimate policy concerns into a movement that rejects a democratic process for governing. It is easier for them to sow domestic confusion about the legitimacy of America’s elected leadership than to overpower America’s resources." But we do not have a functioning democracy in the US and we do not need Russia or China to convince us that both of the major political parties lack democratic legitimacy and are beholden to the military industrial complex, not US Americans. It is the US and its NATO partners, not Russia and China, that have weaponized the dollar, brought war and death to the Middle East, and are chiefly responsible for both hard and soft regime change in the Americas. We can make our own informed choices on election day and do not need to be protected from social media.
